Notebook Bags is Moleskine’s entry-level bag collection intended for the Bookstore and Consumer Electronics Channel. The design challenge was to create products in line with the qualities of the brand, but that could reach the market at a very competitive price. My thought was, therefore, focused on understanding how to obtain an interesting shape starting from basic construction elements and simple processing techniques.
Everything, therefore, originates from two rectangular cuts of two different materials: the padded polyurethane that forms the frame, and a waterproof technical fabric, which, thanks to the pleats, acquires three-dimensionality, adding storage volume and softness to the final shape.
These two parts have a value which is not only aesthetic, but also functional: the padded part protects the digital devices from shocks, and the soft one can accommodate all the more analogue objects. The zipper placed at the rear, close to the back, makes this a thief-proof backpack. The collection consists of a backpack, a horizontal device bag and a vertical one.
